After I complete a book I always want to talk about it however I’m not organized enough and do not have sufficient friends to begin a virtual book club … so I do these reviews to recap and show you.
Notes for this review: There will be SPOILERS. I wish to talk about the plot, characters and ending– that’s the point. You’ve been cautioned.
- Lily is the storyteller and primary character. She’s a twenty-something who transferred to Boston after college. Her father was really physically violent to her mom. The book starts the night of her papa’s funeral where she was expected to give the eulogy however just stood up there and
- didn’t state anything. She meets Ryle that same night and they have a connection. However he states he’s just down for 1 night stands. Ugh.
- Throughout the book she reads her journal from when she was a teen. She composed in her journal like she was writing letters to Ellen DeGeneres that she never ever truly meant to send out. We discover she had a relationship with a homeless kid, Atlas who was remaining in the deserted home behind hers. He ultimately moved to Boston.
- She crosses paths with Ryle again and they start dating.
- Then, she faces Atlas.

I listened to most of the book while running. I believe it’s a good listen for running, strolling, cleaning … essentially activities where it’s great to talk as you go. It wasn’t incredibly suspenseful however I did complete it quite quick and never got bored.
